Mount Holyoke participates in the Advanced Placement Program of the College Entrance Examination Board. A student who has received a grade of 4 or 5 on an A.P. exam in a subject approved for credit by the appropriate College department generally shall receive 4 elective credits.

A.P. courses do not determine whether or not a student’s application will be accepted. What matters to us is that students seek challenges. If a school offers advanced courses, it is recommended that a student consider taking them, even if she is not quite as successful in them as she might be in a lower-level course.

If a school does not offer AP courses, the College will not look unfavorably upon a student’s application. Each student is considered in light of what is available to her. More about how we read applications...
