The Mount Holyoke Department of Athletics kicked off its 2008-09 campaign with an outdoor barbeque outside of Kendall Hall. In an energy-filled evening, student-athletes and administrators participated in karaoke following dinner.

NEWMAC Announces Women's Soccer All-Conference Awards
The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) recently announced its 2007 women's soccer postseason awards. Conference regular season and tournament champion Wheaton College led the way with a total of five selections to the All-Conference team. Wheaton senior Erin Davis was named NEWMAC Player of the Year after helping lead the Lyons to a 21-0-1 record, including a perfect 9-0-0 in league play. In addition, teammate Melida Alvarez was named Conference Rookie of the Year and their Coach, Luis Reis, was honored as Coach of the Year. Mount Holyoke College received the league's annual Sportsmanship Award.

Fall Academic All-Conference Squads Named by NEWMAC
The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) recently announced its 2007 Fall Academic All-Conference Teams. Twenty-five Mount Holyoke College student-athletes were recognized for their achievements in their respective sports as well as in the classroom. Academic All-Conference Teams were selected for the sports of cross country, field hockey, soccer, tennis and volleyball.

The Springfield College women's soccer team scored all three of its goals in the first half, as it defeated Mount Holyoke College 3-0 this evening in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action on Brock-Affleck Field at the Irv Schmid Sports Complex this evening. It was the Pride's fourth win in a row and the sixth straight loss for the Lyons.
