Student-Athlete BarbequeMount Holyoke Athletes Enjoy Annual Barbeque
The Mount Holyoke Department of Athletics kicked off its 2008-09 campaign with an outdoor barbeque outside of Kendall Hall. In an energy-filled evening, student-athletes and administrators participated in karaoke following dinner.

MHC Athletics LogoAwards Handed Out at Annual Athletic Banquet
The Mount Holyoke College Department of Athletics hosted its annual awards celebration on Wednesday evening in Chapin Auditorium. Individuals from all 14 varsity teams were honored. Associate Athletic Director Lori Hendricks served as the event's emcee.

The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) recently announced its 2007-08 Women's Swimming and Diving postseason awards. Mount Holyoke took home the Sportsmanship Award for the second year in a row.

The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) recently announced its 2007-08 Winter Academic All-Conference Teams. Nine Mount Holyoke College student-athletes were recognized for their achievements in their respective sports as well as in the classroom. Academic All-Conference Teams were selected for the women's and men's basketball and women's and men's swimming and diving.

Swim PhotoNEWMAC Swimming and Diving Championships - Day 3
With a win in the final event of the evening, Springfield College sealed the 2008 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Swimming and Diving Championship. The Pride edged out second-place finisher MIT by six and a half points to win their eight-straight title.

On a day that featured three Conference records, four NCAA B-cut standards, one NCAA A-cut performance and two lead changes, Springfield College maintained a slim lead over MIT at the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Swimming and Diving Championships. The Pride total 470.5 points after 13 events, while MIT trails with 460. Wheaton College is a close third, with 442.

Grace BauerSmith Stops Swimming and Diving, 170-117
The Smith College women's swimming and diving team won 12 of 16 events on its way to a convincing 170-117 triumph over visiting Mount Holyoke College this afternoon in Northampton, Mass. With the win, the Pioneers bumped their season record to 4-4. Mount Holyoke dropped to 4-6. It was the regular season finale for both squads.

Swimming and Diving SeniorsWellesley Cruises Past Swimming and Diving, 155-120
The Wellesley College women's swimming and diving team won 12 of 16 events en route to a 155-120 victory over host Mount Holyoke College this afternoon in South Hadley, Mass. With their 17th-straight win over the Lyons, the Blue improved their season record to 8-3. Mount Holyoke, which last defeated Wellesley during the 1988-89 campaign, fell to 4-5. The Lyons were competing in front of their home crowd for the last time this season.

For the eleventh consecutive year, Wellesley College took home the team title at the Seven Sisters Swimming and Diving Championships. The Blue won nine of the 20 events en route to a total of 1126.5 points. Vassar College (891.5) grabbed second place, while host Smith College (715) earned third. Mount Holyoke College (407) and Bryn Mawr College (344) rounded out the field.

Following one day of completed action, Wellesley College leads the 2008 Seven Sisters Swimming and Diving Championship with a score of 744.5. Vassar College is currently in second place with 607.5 points, while host Smith College is in third place with 487 points. Mount Holyoke College will enter the final day of competition in fourth place with a score of 293. The Lyons will start in front of Bryn Mawr College, which totaled 243 points.

MHC SwimmerSimmons Bests Swimming and Diving, 154-125
The Mount Holyoke College swimming and diving team suffered a 154-125 setback versus Simmons College this afternoon at the William J. Holmes Sports and Fitness Center. Of the 16 total events, both squads took top honors in eight. With the win, the Sharks improved to 5-2-1 in dual-meet competition. Mount Holyoke fell to 4-4.

Amanda McGroskySwimming & Diving Tops WNEC, 136-101
Senior Grace Bauer captured first place finishes in four events to help the Mount Holyoke College women's swimming and diving team to a convincing 136-101 victory over Western New England College this afternoon at the Alumni Healthful Living Center Pool. With the win, the Lyons improved to 4-3 on the year. The Golden Bears fell to 3-6. Mount Holyoke swimmers grabbed top honors in 11 of the 14 total events.

Swim HuddleSwimming & Diving Splits at Clark
Senior Grace Bauer won the 100-yard freestyle and recorded three second place finishes, as the Mount Holyoke College women's swimming and diving team picked up a double-dual meet split this afternoon at Clark University. Clark went undefeated on the day, defeating both Mount Holyoke (124-101) and Babson College (129-87). The Lyons found the win column with a 128-97 triumph over Babson.

Lisa NashSwimming and Diving Hosts Elms and Trinity
Senior Emma Goehring picked up three first place finishes to boost the Trinity College women's swimming and diving team to a double-dual meet sweep of Mount Holyoke College and Elms College this evening at the Mount Holyoke Pool. The Bantams dominated on the women's side, winning seven of the 12 events.

Ginny TaylorSwimming & Diving Hosts Pioneer Valley Invitational
The Mount Holyoke College swimming and diving team hosted both Smith College and Westfield State College at the Pioneer Valley Invitational today. Smith dominated the non-scoring event, taking 15 of 21 events. Mount Holyoke came away with three wins, and Westfield State took a pair.

Sophomore Amanda McGrosky and senior Grace Bauer won three events apiece to boost the Mount Holyoke College women's swimming and diving team to a 149-128 victory over host Western Connecticut State University this afternoon at the O'Neill Center Pool.

The Westfield State College women's swimming and diving team picked up a 158-136 victory over host Mount Holyoke College this evening in South Hadley, Mass. With the win, the Owls improved to 2-0 in dual-meets. Mount Holyoke, which was competing in front of its home crowd for the first time this year, fell to 0-1.

Led by seniors Grace Bauer and Ginny Taylor, the Mount Holyoke College swimming and diving team picked up a second place finish at this weekend's Regis College Invitational. The Lyons finished atop the standings in eight of the competition's 16 events.
