The Mount Holyoke College women's tennis team opened its 2008-09 season with a 7-2 victory over Simmons College this afternoon at the Mount Holyoke Tennis Courts.

Mount Holyoke kicks off its 2008 regular season slate versus non-conference foe Simmons College on Saturday (1:00 p.m.) at the Mount Holyoke Tennis Courts in South Hadley, Mass. In 11 previous meetings between the programs, Mount Holyoke owns an 8-3 advantage. Simmons picked up a 7-2 triumph over the Lyons last season.

The Mount Holyoke Department of Athletics kicked off its 2008-09 campaign with an outdoor barbeque outside of Kendall Hall. In an energy-filled evening, student-athletes and administrators participated in karaoke following dinner.

Meaghan SloneTennis Team Garners ITA Academic Honors
The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) recently announced its All-Academic Teams as well as its Scholar Athletes for the 2007-08 season. Ten members of the Mount Holyoke College women's tennis squad were named Scholar Athletes. In addition, the program picked up All-Academic Team accolades.

The Mount Holyoke College Department of Athletics hosted its annual awards celebration on Wednesday evening in Chapin Auditorium. Individuals from all 14 varsity teams were honored. Associate Athletic Director Lori Hendricks served as the event's emcee.

Playing in its final match of the 2007-08 campaign, the Mount Holyoke College women's tennis team edged host Roger Williams University 5-4 this afternoon in Bristol, R.I. With the victory, the Lyons concluded their spring slate with a record of 4-5. They closed out the year with three wins in their final four outings.

In a match that lasted nearly five hours, the Mount Holyoke College women's tennis team came away with a thrilling 5-4 triumph over Springfield College today in South Hadley, Mass. With the win, the Lyons improved to 2-0 in contests versus Springfield this season. Mount Holyoke edged the Pride 6-3 when the two squads tangled in the fall.

Fueled by a singles sweep, the Bates College women's tennis team picked up an 8-1 victory over Mount Holyoke College this morning at the Mount Holyoke Indoor Courts. It was the Bobcats third consecutive win over the Lyons.

The Mount Holyoke College women's tennis team cruised to a 9-0 triumph over Colby-Sawyer College today at the Mount Holyoke Indoor Tennis Courts. It was the Lyons second win of the spring season. They now own a perfect 4-0 mark versus the Chargers all-time.

The Mount Holyoke College women's tennis team split a pair of matches today to secure a fourth place finish at the 2008 Seven Sisters Championship. After picking up a 3-2 victory over Smith College, the Lyons were edged 3-2 by Bryn Mawr College.

The Mount Holyoke College women's tennis team suffered a pair of 5-0 setbacks on the opening day of the 2008 Seven Sisters Championship. After falling to Vassar College, the Lyons were downed by host Wellesley College.

The Mount Holyoke College women's tennis team opened its 2007-08 spring slate with a heartbreaking 5-4 setback versus SUNY New Paltz today in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. After taking two of the three doubles matches, the Lyons dropped four of six on the singles side.

NEWMAC LogoFall Academic All-Conference Squads Named by NEWMAC
The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) recently announced its 2007 Fall Academic All-Conference Teams. Twenty-five Mount Holyoke College student-athletes were recognized for their achievements in their respective sports as well as in the classroom. Academic All-Conference Teams were selected for the sports of cross country, field hockey, soccer, tennis and volleyball.

Babson Upends Mount Holyoke, 5-1

The third seeded Babson College women's tennis team defeated sixth seeded Mount Holyoke College 5-1 in opening round action of the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Tournament today at Wellesley College. With the win, the Beavers advanced to the semifinal round of the championship, where they will face off against second seeded MIT tomorrow on their home court beginning at 2:00 p.m. Mount Holyoke wrapped up its fall slate with an overall record of 3-8 and a league mark of 2-5.

Tennis Competes in NEWITT
Six individuals and three doubles pairings represented the Mount Holyoke College women's tennis team in this weekend's New England Women's Intercollegiate Tennis Tournament. All nine of the Lyons entrants fell in the opening rounds of their respective flights.

It was the Lyons second league triumph of the season. With the loss, Clark remained winless in Conference play.

With the win, the Blue remained perfect in league play. The three time reigning NEWMAC champions earned their 13th straight win over the Lyons.
