Mount Holyoke Athletes Enjoy Annual Barbeque
The Mount Holyoke Department of Athletics kicked off its 2008-09 campaign with an outdoor barbeque outside of Kendall Hall. In an energy-filled evening, student-athletes and administrators participated in karaoke following dinner.

Volleyball Blanks Bay Path in Season Opener, 3-0
Senior outside hitter Chelsea Tracy collected a match-best eight kills to propel the Mount Holyoke College women's volleyball team to 3-0 (25-20, 25-12, 25-19) triumph over Bay Path College this evening at the Mildred Howard Gymnasium. It was the season opener for both squads and the first ever meeting between the two programs. First year head coach Sonnie Terrell picked up her first career victory for the Lyons.

Sonnie Terrell Named Interim Head Volleyball Coach
The Mount Holyoke College Department of Athletics is pleased to announce the hiring of Sonnie Terrell as its interim head volleyball coach. Terrell succeeds Peer Nasseir, who guided the program to a 22-53 mark in three seasons at the helm.

Volleyball Picks Up AVCA Academic Award
The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) recently announced its Team Academic Award recipients for the 2007-08 season. Among the honorees was the Mount Holyoke College women's volleyball squad. A total of 353 teams from around the nation qualified for the distinction. Of those, 62 programs competed in NCAA Division III.

NEWMAC Announces 2007 Women's Volleyball All-Conference Awards
The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) recently announced its 2007 postseason women's volleyball awards. MIT senior Amanda Morris was named the league's Player of the Year after helping lead MIT to a 34-2 record and the NEWMAC regular season championship. First year Bethany Stosz of Springfield College grabbed Rookie of the Year accolades, while Dorothy Webb of Wellesley was honored by her peers as NEWMAC Coach of the Year. Mount Holyoke College took home the Conference's annual Sportsmanship Award.

Fall Academic All-Conference Squads Named by NEWMAC
The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) recently announced its 2007 Fall Academic All-Conference Teams. Twenty-five Mount Holyoke College student-athletes were recognized for their achievements in their respective sports as well as in the classroom. Academic All-Conference Teams were selected for the sports of cross country, field hockey, soccer, tennis and volleyball.

2007 NEWMAC VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT MIT Upends Mount Holyoke, 3-0
The top seeded MIT women's volleyball team downed eighth seeded Mount Holyoke College 3-0 (30-10, 30-19, 30-22) this evening in opening round action of the 2007 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Tournament at the Rockwell Cage.

MIT Downs Volleyball, 3-0
With a 3-0 (30-13, 30-12, 30-16) victory over Mount Holyoke College this afternoon, the MIT women's volleyball team finished off a perfect regular season versus New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) foes. The Engineers secured the top seed in next week's NEWMAC Tournament. Mount Holyoke, which finished eighth in the final regular season league standings, will return to Rockwell Cage for a quarterfinal round contest against MIT on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.

Wheaton Clips Volleyball, 3-1
First year outside hitter Sam Andreacchi racked up 17 kills, 19 digs and a pair of service aces to help the Wheaton College women's volleyball team to a 3-1 victory over Mount Holyoke College this evening in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference action at the Mildred Howard Gymnasium. It was Wheaton's ninth win in its last 13 outings.

2007 Volleyball Hall of Fame Classic (Day 2)
The Mount Holyoke College women's volleyball team sustained a pair of losses on the second and final day of the 2007 Hall of Fame Classic. After dropping their first match of the day to Smith College, the Lyons were blanked 3-0 by Westfield State College. As a result of its two losses, Mount Holyoke finished the tournament in last place overall.

2007 Volleyball Hall of Fame Classic (Day 1)
The Mount Holyoke College women's volleyball team dropped a pair of contests this evening in first round action of the 2007 Hall of Fame Classic. After falling 3-0 in their opener, they suffered a 3-2 setback versus Bridgewater State College in their second match of the day. As a result of its two losses, Mount Holyoke finished at the bottom of its pool.

Springfield Topples Volleyball, 3-0
Junior outside hitter Aylene Ilkson piled up 15 kills and 15 digs, as the Springfield College women's volleyball team downed Mount Holyoke College 3-0 this evening in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action at Blake Arena. It was the Pride's sixth win in a row and the Lyons fifth straight loss.

Volleyball Drops Three at Smith College Invitational
The Mount Holyoke College women's volleyball team suffered a trio of defeats at this weekend's Smith College Invitational. On Friday evening, Plymouth State University downed the Lyons 3-1. Play resumed this morning with Mount Holyoke taking on Elmira College. In a match that went to the limit, the Soaring Eagles won by a score of 3-2. Mount Holyoke was blanked 3-0 by Trinity College in their final contest of the tournament.

2007 Seven Sisters Volleyball Championship (Day Two)
In its final match of the 2007 Seven Sisters Championship, the Mount Holyoke College women's volleyball team downed Elms College 3-0. By way of their second victory of the season over the Blazers, the Lyons secured fifth place at the tournament. In other action, Smith College defeated Bryn Mawr College 3-0 in the third place match, and Wellesley College edged host Vassar College 3-2 in the Championship tilt.

The Mount Holyoke College women's volleyball team sustained a pair of losses during the first day of the 2007 Seven Sisters Volleyball Championship, hosted by Vassar College. After falling to Vassar 3-0 in its first contest of the afternoon, the Lyons dropped a 3-0 decision versus Bryn Mawr College.
