Center for the Environment

Mission
The Center for the Environment is dedicated to creating new approaches to learning that engage students more actively in the scientific, social/human, and global dimensions of environmental study, and to developing an interdisciplinary education program that is embedded in the broader College curriculum. The Center aims to enable our students and community to work toward environmentally responsible, just, and equitable societies by bridging diverse interests and backgrounds, and by deepening the connections between people, community, and the Earth.

Leslie and Sarah Miller Director of the Center for the Environment
Sandra Postel is also director of the Global Water Policy Project, and; was named one of the Scientific American 50 in 2002.

Projects and Programs
The Center organizes curricular and public programming on environmental issues; oversees campus environmental stewardship projects; maintains a "curricular trail" that provides data on campus weather, water, and forest conditions; sustains an environmental alumnae network, and oversees an environmental internship program.
