Faculty Development & Project Consultation

Would you like to learn more about a technology to use in one of your courses or for your research?  The LITS Research & Instructional Support (RIS) team would like to teach you!

We can partner with you to explore:

  • setting up alerts to monitor current scholarship
  • incorporating news feeds (RSS) in an assignment
  • ella, MHC's electronic learning arena
  • using wikis to promote collaborative writing
  • creating small image collections for student review
  • building a citation database in Refworks
  • establishing online project sites to gather department materials
  • using technology to promote 'close readings' of primary sources
  • creating portable bookmarks of your favorite web sites
  • social networking sites such as 'My Space' and 'Facebook'
  • exploring digital storytelling as an assignment
  • and more!

To get started:

If you are interested in learning more about one of these technologies, or perhaps even something not named above, please --

-Contact your LITS Liaison or...
Send an email to the RIS team.  Please include a brief description of what you would like to explore or work on, as well as 2-3 time periods you are available to meet in the next week or so.

-Or, Drop by the MEWS...
The Faculty Development Area of the MEWS is a multimedia-equipped space for faculty to explore new technologies or work on curricular projects.  This area provides a dedicated space for faculty to work on their own or to get one-on-one support either by appointment or through the drop-in hours (below).  The Faculty Development Area is open for self-service use whenever the LITS complex is open.

Drop-in Hours
Staff are available for drop-in support on curricular projects from
2:00pm - 4:00pm on weekdays, whenever classes are in session.
