Facilities and Computing Resources
The Language Resource Center houses the foreign language video and audio collection, course reserves, language support materials, CD-ROMs, DVDs and language software. The LRC's reception desk is staffed by student assistants who support users and distribute course related materials. Media needs and staff support for Ciruti Center classrooms is also available from the LRC.
Resources
The LRC's viewing stations, 8 audio carrels, 2 private viewing rooms (accommodating 2-4 students), 2 private multi-media project rooms, and a sound-proof audio recording room allow students a convenient place to complete their assignments. The Center also has 17 computer PC and MAC work stations equipped with specialized software, proofing tools and foreign language fonts for word processing and web browsing.
The LRC supports foreign language learning by supplying region-free DVD players, multi-standard videotape players, scanners, slide-projections, CD and tape player, overhead projectors, headphones and a laser printer.
Lounge
This comfortable, wireless-equipped, space provides students with an environment for quiet study as well as interactive group work. In addition, students can view any of the 18 international channels on the large-screen TV. SCOLA, a non-profit educational organization that transmits television programming from around the world in native languages, is also available in the lounge.
The lounge may be reserved for social activities and casual functions hosted by the foreign language departments. Study abroad meetings, tutoring sessions, department meetings and teas, technology seminars, end-of-year gatherings and department at-homes are a few of the recent events held in the LRC lounge.
