How to Submit E-Reserves
Electronic Reserves are processed through the LITS Digitization Center. Items for Electronic Reserve should be submitted at the DigiCenter (in The MEWS, Dwight 1st floor) or the Circulation Desk. An intake form is available to download, or can be obtained at the DigiCenter. The following information should be considered by all faculty when planning electronic reserves.
LITS will accept the following for Electronic Reserves:
- A photocopy of a single chapter of a book.
- A photocopy of a single article from a journal or newspaper.
- Non-copyrighted material such as an exam, lecture notes, or syllabus.
- Photocopies of excerpts from government publications.
LITS will not accept the following for Electronic Reserves:
- Traditional (bound) Coursepacks.
- Entire books.
Use of materials needs to comply with U.S.Copyright Law. A tip sheet is available to help you determine this.
Format for submission:
- Submissions must include an electronic copy of the Reading List. Email a Word document to the DigiCenter
- Photocopies need to be on 81/2 x 11 size paper
- The photocopies should be as clean and clear as possible
- Photocopies should have adequate margins on all sides
- Graphics within readings may not scan clearly
- Course materials in digital form may be submitted on CD with an accompanying Reading List.
Material will be scanned into PDF format. LITS staff does not edit scanned material. Other considerations:
- Consider whether the materials were used in a previous semester. If so, please indicate that on the Reading List.
- Consider whether the materials are accessible from other online services or databases (e.g. JSTOR, PsycArticles, etc.)
- After you have been notified that your readings have been posted, please review them to ensure there are no problems.
- Faculty are asked to submit materials for eReserves at least three weeks prior to the beginning of the semester. eReserves take priority in these early weeks. Submissions after the beginning of a semester will be processed on first come first served basis, as quickly as possible.
All questions should be emailed to the Digitization Center Team.
