Email Account
Alumnae have two options for a continued MHC email address:

  1. Continue your MHC account after graduation
After graduation, your MHC email account will be kept active.  Your account must remain in good standing and within quota for continued access.  Any questions or problems with your MHC email account after graduation should be sent to the Helpdesk or call 413-538-2600.
  2. Obtain an email address with the Alumnae Association
The Alumnae Association offers a permanent "@alumnae.mtholyoke.edu" email address. This address will automatically forward to any account you choose—and it never changes, even when you switch jobs or email providers. Learn more...

Network Space
Classwork, Classweb, ella (My Workspace) and MHC (Home Directory)

The ‘classwork’, ‘classweb’ and ella ‘My Workspace’ network folders are provided for current students only. The purpose of these folders is for academic materials. Graduates are responsible for moving their data from these locations before graduation. In general, material in "classwork", "classweb",  and "ella" will be available in a read-only mode (you cannot delete or modify it) for one semester after graduation. After that it is permanently removed.  If your email account is continuing, there is no change to your MHC (Home) directory or your personal& MHC webpages (~username).

To access these folder areas after you leave campus you will need to use an SFTP program, such as WinSCP or Fugu

Please note that your personal MHC webpages (~username) are searchable through Google, and you should consider making any changes or deletions to those pages before you leave campus.

Reinstate a Discontinued MHC Email Account
You must request reinstatement if you do not have an active MHC email account. You may do this in person at 104 Dwight Hall or, if not currently on campus, by mail. Please include:

  • your full name
  • alternate email address
  • telephone number where you can be reached for any potential account problems
  • photocopy of ID (this must be a good photocopy)
  • stamped self-addressed envelope with address that is on record with the College.

Accounts that have been closed or locked due to security issues or acceptable use violations might not be eligible for reinstatement.

Library Services
If you live in the local area, you may borrow MHC items from the Library. Simply contact the OneCard office for an Alumnae card, and stop by the Library Circulation Desk to update your contact information.

If you live locally you may also use ejournals and library databases in the Library.  Our license agreements for these resources regrettably are restricted to current students, faculty and staff and do not permit remote access for alumnae.  For those who live farther from campus, we recommend you check your local public library or the library of your local state university. They may offer similar tools to assist in your research.

Archives and Special Collections
Honors Papers
For seniors submitting Honors Papers, in addition to your department’s requirements, LITS requires that you submit 1 copy electronically and 1 copy in paper format.  Please consult the guidelines for information on formatting and submitting your Honors Paper.

Donating Papers
It is never too soon to start thinking about adding your student papers to the College Archives and Special Collections.  We collect personal papers including your correspondence, photographs, scrapbooks, diaries, and coursework.  If you are involved in a student organization, please also consider donating papers to this collection.  To contact an Archivist, please email Archives.
