Convolvulus
tricolor 'Royal
Ensign'
Tired of cliché annuals? Here's a
prizewinner that offers a jazzy splash of deep dark indigo blue
to your perennial border or container garden. In full sun with ample
moisture, Convolvulus tricolor 'Royal Ensign' is a highly
effective trailing/sprawling groundcover to be placed 6-9"
apart at planting for a successful show.

C. tricolor
offers deep indigo blue flowers in late summer.
Averaging between 12-18" in height, Convolvulus
tricolor 'Royal Ensign' is best suited for the front to middle
of a border where it may be allowed to creep beyond the edge and/or
mingle with its neighbors. Should you like to see this blue beauty,
visit our own Talcott Greenhouse and stroll along the front border
where it thrives amongst Oenothera, Festuca, and Heliotrope.

Convolvulus
tricolor
Prolific and dazzling solitary flowers (approximately
1 1/2" wide with yellow and white centers) appear above dark
green ovate leaves beginning in July and continuing through September.
C. tricolor is found as a native perennial from Portugal
to Greece and N. Africa; it can be treated as a respectable annual
in zone 5 (zones 8-11 can offer it a more suitable climate and can
expect a perennial, perhaps short-lived, life cycle).
