Omphalodes verna
Blue-eyed Mary

This charming relative of forget-me-nots, in the Boraginaceae family, provides early true blue color to shaded borders and beds. Unlike forget-me-nots, which are biennials, Omphalodes verna is a perennial plant.

displays its gentle, spreading habit

While Blue-eyed Mary is fairly tolerant of considerable shade and rather dry soil, best results will be obtained in light shade situations with average moisture. Full sun is not recommended as the foliage burns easily. Plants spread readily, but not invasively, under reasonable conditions.
