Tricyrtis 'Tojen'
or Tojen Toad Lily
Tricyrtis 'Tojen', is a lovely hybrid toad lily that will add grace
and elegance to any shade garden. Although stems may reach 3 feet
or more, the downward sweeping habit keeps the plant height at about
2-2 1/2 feet.

Members of the genus
Tricyrtis feature
beautiful, orchid-like flowers, held out
gracefully on stems from the leaf axil.
Tricyritis 'Tojen' will thrive in reasonably moist soil amended with organic
matter, and will look its best in shade to part shade. Be sure to allow sufficient
space for the plant to display its lovely, weeping growth habit. You might want
to grow spring flowering plants that go dormant in summer, such as small woodland
anemones, dogtooth violets or bulb plants, in the space that the weeping stems
will occupy in summer to fall.
Tricyrtis
'Tojen'
displays a single flower.

Tricyrtis 'Tojen'
Pale violet flowers with white throats, described by some as reminiscent
of orchid flowers, face up towards the viewer. Flowering begins in late August
and continues into October.

The Tojen Toad Lily makes
an attractive
border along a path, or in any shady area
where it's intricate flowers may be
examined more closely.
Tojen Toad Lily can be seen in the shady section of the Drue Matthews
Garden, next to the path.
