Fall Orientation 2008
Welcome to Mount Holyoke College and to Orientation 2008. Our theme this year, "Challenging Woman to Change the World", reflects our commitment to empowering women to work in cooperation as a community of diverse leaders. In keeping with the mission of the College, Orientation 2008 begins the process of “educating a diverse residential community of women at the highest level of academic excellence and fostering the alliance of liberal arts education with purposeful engagement in the world.
Orientation 2008 will also help to demystify the beginning of the academic year and to orient you to this important new chapter of your life. Ask questions, meet people, and learn about the College. Find out what it means to be a member of a community governed by a student honor code. Meet your academic adviser, discuss your courses for the fall, and learn about the various student services.
You are at a crossroads—one at which you may feel both excited and uncertain. Remember that the College’s resources and services are here for you. We encourage you to use them.
At Mount Holyoke, you have the freedom and the responsibility to construct your life and embrace many opportunities. We wish you good health and an adventurous intellectual life as you embark upon your chosen path.
