Passages Pre-Orientation Schedule
Friday, August 29, 2008 The goal of Passages pre-orientation is to transition students of color and multiracial students (domestic and international) to life at Mount Holyoke by providng programming and mentors which will foster academic enhancement, intercultural and identity exploration, social adjustment and service to others. The pre-orientation is part of a year-long Passages program for students.

7:00am – 9:00am Breakfast New students bring your IDs. Cash sales available for families and guests. Blanchard Campus Center
9:00am - midnight Welcome Lounge Pick up your arrival packet and meet other new and current students. Members of ISOC and Passages boards, as well as Orientation leaders, will be available to answer questions and assist you with getting your permanent One Card, opening a bank account, or activating your phone. Refreshments will be served. Arrival Packets for international students arriving after 5:00 pm can be picked up at the pizza party or at Transitions Abroad on Saturday morning. 227 Blanchard Campus Center Lounge

5:00pm - 7:30pm Welcome Dinner for Students and Families Please join us at our welcome gathering celebrating your arrival. Receive words of welcome from the Director of Diversity/Inclusion, Coordinator of Multicultural Affairs and the Passages Orientation Board. Eat a delicious meal after a long day of unpacking and settling on campus and join us in celebrating your arrival! International students and families are welcome to attend. 7:30pm-9:00pm Pizza Party Stop by for pizza, cookies, music, and conversation with new and returning students. Passages students are also welcome to stop by! Great Room, Blanchard Campus Center
8:00pm - 10:30pm Take a Break Take a break from unpacking and come hang out with other new students and the Passages Board. Watch a movie, play games and just relax. Mead Hall Living Room

12:45pm - 3:30 pm Trip to Skinner State Park Walk in Mary Lyon's shoes along with faculty, staff and your fellow pre-orientation participants by taking a short hike up Mt. Holyoke. A picnic lunch awaits you at the top. Please wear comfortable walking shoes or sneakers. (Rain location: Blanchard Great Room)
4:00pm - 5:30pm Who am I?...And What does identity have to do with my life at college? You’ve made it! Your first few days of college are here...but now what do you do? What does diversity really mean at Mount Holyoke? Join us in this informative and interactive program focused on affirming and exploring the multi-identities and cultures within the MHC community. Also, learn about the Passages year-long transition program that will assist your acclimation to life in college. Betty Shabbazz Cultural Center
5:30pm - 7:00 pm Informal Passages Dinner Continue the connections that you’ve begun with other Passages participants and begin new connections with upperclass students who will be in attendance. Blanchard Campus Center

9:30 pm - 12:00am ISOC/Passages Dance Party International and Passages students celebrate the end of Pre-Orientation with a night of music, dancing and fun! Don't miss the dance lesson by Tanya O. Williams, Coordinator of Multicultural Affairs, a special highlight of the festivities. Delicious desserts and other refreshments will be served! Blanchard Great Room
