Catholic

Anita Magovern, is the Chaplain for the Catholic community.  Every Sunday during the academic year, there is Mass at 6:30pm in Abbey Memorial Chapel, a joy filled community event, presided over by Father Richard Bondi, Pastor at St. Theresa's Parish, and accompanied by the Abbey Singers, directed  by Mark Gionfriddo from the Music Department.

In addition, the Catholic community provides a variety of spiritual, educational, and social events throughout the year which are open to everyone. Whether it is Catholic Women Discuss, a student-led series which looks at theological, biblical, and contemporary issues from a Catholic perspective, our annual spring retreat at a lovely Rhode Island beach house, or making fudge as a fundraiser, Catholic events are enjoyable and participatory. There are plenty of opportunities for faith exploration and sharing as well as leadership roles on the Newman Student Leadership Board.

There is also a rich Interfaith Life at MHC where the Catholic community regularly engages with other faith groups in dialogue across differences. Our Wednesday Interfaith Lunches which host about forty-fifty students weekly in a cross faith discussion is one of the best attended and most popular faith experiences on campus.

To receive notices of upcoming events for this group, please email Anita Magovern and ask her to put you on the Newman email list.
