Rev. Gladys G. Moore is an ordained pastor in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). For 22 ½ years she served as an urban pastor in Jersey City and Newark, NJ and for 16 of those years she was also an assistant to the Bishop of the New Jersey Synod.  In that capacity her duties included providing pastoral support and oversight to more than 75 of the synod’s 195 congregations and pastors, and acting as coordinator of congregation-based community organizing for the synod. In addition, she has served as chaplain, preacher, retreat resource person, and Bible study leader at many state-wide, regional, national and international events.
Gladys is a graduate of the Philadelphia High School for Girls; West Chester State University (B.S. Elementary Education); Temple University (M. Ed.) and the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia. (M.Div.)

Gladys holds two positions at Mount Holyoke College. As Dean of Religious and Spiritual life, she supports the work of the College's chaplains and religious advisers and helps articulate the humanistic values and ethical concerns of the larger College community.  As the Director of Diversity and Inclusion, she is working with the existing college leadership to transform our institution, inspire colleagues, and engage the entire campus community in dialoguing across difference and developing leaders for the increasingly multicultural 21st century.
