Rising Seniors

Moving Groups: There are no limits placed on the size of moving groups, unless you are moving with a Dining Services Student Manager. Two roommates who want to live together next year MUST create a moving group. Please note: once you join, or create a moving group you cannot be removed from the group.

Mixed Moving Groups: A mixed moving group is a group that has members from different classes. Upcoming seniors and juniors are cautioned that moving with a group of predominantly underclass students may lessen their opportunity for a single room or building where senior and junior quotas have been met. Also, it will lessen the sophomores from getting into buildings where senior and junior quotas have been met.

Any group which has mostly underclass students is classified with the class which holds the majority. For example: 2 seniors and 1 junior and 1 sophomore is a senior group; 2 seniors and 3 juniors is a junior group; 1 senior, 1 junior, and 2 sophomores is a sophomore group; or 1 junior and 2 sophomores is a sophomore group.

Singles are NOT GUARANTEED to seniors and we do NOT hold singles specifically for juniors. The Office of Residential Life tries to ensure that there are enough singles available for every senior that wants one. The senior must be willing to move anywhere to get one and is not moving with a group that will be classified as a junior or sophomore group.

Seniors moving with an upcoming juniors or sophomore group will lessen their chances for a single room or buildings where senior quotas have been met.

Half-Open Doubles: Half-open doubles will be consolidated during the night of room choosing. If you sign into a half-open double during the night of room choosing, another student will be signing into that room with you.

Suites: There are 2, two room doubles in N. Mandelle and 1, two room double in S. Mandelle. Students must sign into these rooms on the night of hall choosing, and must be completely filled at that time.

Triples: You must sign directly into a triple on the night of hall choosing. The triple must be completely filled at that time. There are triples available in:

  • Buckland Basement
  • Mead Basement
  • Porter
  • N. Rocky
  • S. Rocky

Quiet Floors: The third floors of Abbey and N. Mandelle have been designated as "quiet." Students who wish to sign onto a quiet floor will do so at hall choosing. Open doubles will not be permitted, students must have a roommate in the same group to choose a double on the quiet floor on the night of hall choosing.

Going on Leave/Withdrawing/Day Student: Students who plan to take a leave, withdraw from the College or become a day student should draw a room choosing number only and should not choose a hall or room type or join a moving group. If you decide to go on leave/withdraw/become a day student after you have selected a room in the lottery process, your space will be filled during the summer housing process, and you will be charged a $200 Room Cancellation Fee. If you join a moving group (2 or more students) you will automatically be assigned a hall and room even if you do not particpate in the hall choosing or room choosing process. The room cancellation fee will still be assessed to your account.

It is important to keep your roommate informed of your plans to go on leave/withdraw/day student because they will be assigned a new roommate. If your plans change, you are not guaranteed the same room.
