Become a Mentor

Mount Holyoke College students may be nominated by a fellow student, faculty member, or staff member, or may apply on their own to be a leadership mentor.  If you are selected to be a mentor, your mentor responsibilities will be to serve as a personal coach and consultant to a high school student participating in the Take the Lead program.

You will receive training and support from the Weissman Center for Leadership and Liberal Arts and the staff of the Speaking, Arguing, and Writing Program.

You will host your student leader during the program at Mount Holyoke College and will remain in touch with her when she returns to her community to complete her action project.

“Being a Take the Lead mentor gave me the opportunity to explore my strengths and limitations.  It was a tremendously empowering experience to work with a bright, hopeful young woman to achieve her goals and to know and believe that together, in a mentorship relationship, anything is possible.”  —Judy Tan, Take the Lead mentor
