Sally Montgomery Award
Sally Montgomery, the former dean of the College and professor of economics, was instrumental in the creation of community-based learning at Mount Holyoke College. This award, named in her honor, is supported by a fund to which she has contributed and from which the annual monetary prize for the most outstanding CBL project of the year is given.
Projects are judged upon how the student's learning was enhanced through their experiences working or researching in a community and how the community partner or community at large benefited from the service and knowledge contributed by the student(s). Qualifying projects may come from a class, independent study, or thesis work. The prize is awarded to both students and community participants, and winners are listed in the annual commencement program.
Application and Award Calendar Applications will be accepted throughout spring 2008. Submit an Application Form with a faculty recommendation. Following the awards committee's review of the applications, the winners will be announced at the annual Sally Montgomery Awards Ceremony.
