The Holyoke Corps is partnering with the Holyoke Public Schools and our first site placements will be at the William R. Peck K-8 School.
Twelve Holyoke Corps members, four each from Mount Holyoke College, the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and Holyoke Community College will work to:
- Improve educational achievement among Holyoke public school students. Holyoke Corps members will provide tutoring and mentoring services at Holyoke’s Peck School, working with at-risk students through the CHOICES program and with teachers.
- Improve college awareness among Holyoke public school students. The Holyoke Corps will organize college awareness and preparation workshops, campus-community visits and events.
Holyoke Corps members will participate in orientation and training, and will also recruit additional student volunteers to support the above goals. Students at all three colleges will be encouraged to support education efforts in Holyoke.
